A Delicious Morning for Belgian Waffles!



Just in time to celebrate the dads in your life...a breakfast fit for a king! Try making these waffles for your hero and watch him smile...these are so easy to make, you might want to have them everyday!

Fit-for-a-King Belgian Waffles

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups well-shaken buttermilk
  • 3/4 stick (6 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Vegetable oil cooking spray for waffle iron
  • Powdered sugar, if desired for dusting

Preheat waffle iron. Whisk together dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, and eggs in another bowl, then combine these with the dry ingredients just until blended--you never want to overstir waffles or pancakes because doing so breaks down the leavening agents in the flour.

Coat the waffle iron generously with vegetable cooking spray, and pour about 1/2 cup of batter into each waffle mold. Cook waffles until golden and cooked through, about 3 minutes. If you want, keep them warm in a oven set at 250 degrees until you are ready to serve them. We love our waffles with sliced strawberries, blueberries and freshly whipped cream.
